Combining our expertise in liquid handling, automation, and detection, Tecan offers an extensive variety of powerful yet flexible assay workstations. Designed to meet the needs of laboratories involved in assay development or screening, Tecan offers workstations designed for a wide range of biochemical and cell based assays. Built on the Freedom EVO platform, Tecan Assay Workstations offer high throughput and flexibility in a compact footprint without the need for complex articulated robotic arms.
The base Freedom EVO is available in deck sizes of 100, 150, or 200 cm to fit your space and capacity requirements. The liquid handling arm (LiHa) can work with both tubes and plates enabling rapid tube to microplate sample transfers and dilutions. The LiHa can be equipped with 2, 4, or 8 tips configured with a wide combination of fixed and disposable tips. Plate-to-microplate transfers are easily performed using the Te-MO™ 96 or Te-MO 384 multichannel pipetting options. Bulk reagent additions can be performed with these devices or with integrated reagent dispensers. A variety of microplate washers are also available in 8, 96, and 384 channel versions.
The Freedom EVO can be configured with up to two robotic arms including the Pick-and-Place arm, which allows the manipulation of individual sample tubes, the Robotic manipulator (RoMa) arm, which allows the integration of peripherals around all four sides of the Freedom EVO deck, and the Extended Z RoMa, which expands the accessible work area to below the deck. Adding storage devices such as automated microplate stackers or a random access carousel increases speed and capacity.
Workstations can be configured with incubation capacity from six plates to over a thousand. Conditions include temperatures from –20 to 95°C, CO2 and humidity control, and shaking. Multiple incubation conditions can be set up on a single workstation.
Any of Tecan’s family of microplate detectors can be easily integrated into an assay workstation. Tecan offers readers to cover the widest number of detection modes:
The RoMa option enables microplates to be automatically moved into microplate readers placed around all four sides of the Freedom EVO deck. The Extended Z RoMa option enables access to readers placed under the deck of the EVO.
Options are available to integrate most non-Tecan readers as well. Data analysis software is also available for integration as well as interfacing to an existing LIMS system.
Many different commercially available assays have been implemented on Tecan readers. These include assays for the following applications:
Tecan assay workstations can be integrated with thousands of additional options including barcode readers and printers, microplate shakers, microplate sealers, and centrifuges.
With EVOware® Plus dynamic scheduling software, all of the integrated peripherals are controlled as an efficient multitasking system. Maximum throughput is achieved by continually monitoring the availability of all system resources.
The applications described here are not available in the US outside of the research market.
