Freedom EVO^® Cell Seed and Feed Workstations

Tecan’s Cell Seed and Feed Workstation is designed to automate both the process of dispensing cells into standard microwell and insert plates and the process of exchanging media. This system is especially useful when working with slow growing cell lines such as colorectal carcinoma (Caco-2) cells.

The Cell Seed and Feed Workstation implements a number of features to help maintain sterile conditions. All pipetting of samples occurs on the deck of the Freedom EVO which is enclosed in a positive pressure HEPA filtered environment. UV lights integrated into the enclosure can be used when the system is not running. Additionally as routine maintenance during idle time, the liquid handling paths are filled with an ethanol solution. The result is a system that can maintain sterility for extended periods of time.

The applications described here are not available in the US outside of the research market.
