Flask handling

Automated cell culture flask handling by Cellerity™

Robot-friendly cell culture flasks are stored in the horizontal position in the robotic incubator and the AutoLoader™ or other storage devices.

 

 

The AutoLoader directly feeds flasks onto the Flask Flipper module while reading the flask barcode on the fly.

 

 

The robotic gripper transports flasks between the Flask Flipper and the robotic incubator.

 

 

The robotic manipulator arm loads flasks into the Flask Flipper.  

 

The flasks are held in place by a locking mechanism.

 

 

The Flask Flipper is used to:

  • Shake flasks
  • Knock flasks to tap cells off the surface during cell harvesting
  • Rotate flasks into a vertical position in order to pipette into and out of the flasks.

The flask handling module is available as a standard option to any Freedom EVO® workstation.

 

 

The pierceable septum caps permit multiple tip access. Before piercing, a 70 % ethanol solution is applied onto the septa to support flask integrity.
