Professor Ulf Andersson explains the possible link between HMGB1 and COVID-19

Prof. Ulf Andersson is Professor emeritus of the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. He dedicated his career to understanding one of the most intriguing proteins of the innate immune system: HMGB1.

Now, in the wake of this global pandemic, Prof. Andersson reviews the bits and pieces learned from early pandemic research that indicate an involvement of HMGB1 in the pathology of Sars-CoV-2 infections. He explains the role of HMGB1 in viral infections in general, and Sars-CoV-2 in particular.
