vControl™ allows for multiple labware to be added at once to a storage carrier. This is done through the labware group editor.
When using storage carriers (e.g., hotel) in vControl™, multiple labware items can be generated at a time. This is accomplished using the Labware Group Editor, a menu that opens when dragging the labware to the desired carrier or by right-clicking the labware and selecting the Labware Group Editor.
Using the Labware Group Editor

Opening the Labware Group Editor:
- To open the Labware Group Editor, either drag a labware item to the carrier or right-click the carrier and select the Labware Group Editor.

Understanding the Labware Group Editor:
- Once the Labware Group Editor is open, the top portion displays the positions within the carrier. Open positions are marked in blue, while positions with labware are marked with a letter (e.g., "A" for the first new group). If a position is inaccessible (such as a too-short slot at the bottom of a hotel), it will be crossed off and not selectable.

Configuring Labware Group Settings:
- After adding the desired amount of labware, the user can decide on a group name, type, orientation, and whether it has a lid. The type will be pre-selected if the labware is dragged and dropped on the carrier to open the menu; otherwise, the user can select from a drop-down menu. Orientation refers to the position of A1 within labware such as 96-well flat plates and should reflect the physical position on the deck. There is also a checkbox to indicate if the labware has a lid.

- Multiple types of labware can be placed within one carrier.

Saving the Selection:
- To save the selection, the user can click "Apply" or "Apply and Close." Once the user hits "Apply," the labware should be visible in the worktable GUI.
