Creating a new definition when you can’t find a microplate in the plate list.
Users can create new plate definition files or modify existing ones under the Plate Definitions option of i-control™.
Working with a detailed manufacturer’s technical drawing of the well plate when creating a plate definition avoids problems due to incorrect dimensions.
Go to the “Settings” menu and select Plate “Definitions...”
Choose from the available templates (all plate definitions in the library) to server as a starting point for modification, or select “Create a new plate file” to start from scratch. We recommend selecting a template that is close to your new plate and modifying that file.
Enter general information about the well plate you are defining.
Define the dimensions of the well plate.
1. Length
2. Width
3. Left well position
4. Right well position
5. Upper well position
6. Lower well position
7. Plate height
8. Height with cover
9. Height tolerance
10. Skirt height
Finally, define the dimensions of a well on the plate according to the technical drawing from the well-plate manufacturer.
1. Well form (rectangle, round, square, unknown)
2. Diameter and well size based on the well form
3. Well depth
4. Bottom form (flat, round, V-shape, U-shape, unknown
Press “Save as” and enter a name and a path (we recommend the default pdfx path) for the new plate definition file. The new plate definition is saved.
Further Recommendation
If you use the Magellan™ Software, the Plate Geometry Editor can scan the plate and so, the dimensions and positions of the plate can be fine-tuned.
