How to get started - Existing Users

This ticket summarizes how to get started with Introspect for the existing users.

To make the transition as smooth as possible for all existing users, there will be a migration of the users, organization and the instrument data. Instrument data can be migrated directly, if they are connected with the latest IoT Client (2.6 or 2.7).

If you and your company are already using Introspect this is how you get started with the Next-Gen IntrospectTM, there are a few steps required to be setup and then you are ready to go:

  • Existing Power Users of the classic Introspect will be “invited” to the Next-Gen Introspect and they receive an email with a link to set a new password once
  • This new login can from now on be used for the Next-Gen Introspect and the classic Introspect incl. the Tecan Connect app in parallel.
  • Important: The management of users and instruments will be moved to Next-Gen Introspect’s Organization Management. A Power User will now be an administrator in Organization Management, and the structure of the organization must be configured before seeing any data. At minimum, one layer must be assigned with instruments and users.

For the new dashboard, the latest IoT Client versions are required (v2.6 and v2.7). You might need to update the IoT Client, to be able to migrate the instruments to the new dashboard.

If the connected instruments are already running on IoT Client 2.6 or 2.7, the data migration will be automatically triggered in sequences after the rollout. You can find the status of the migration via the Dashboard/settings and whether the IoT Client need to be upgraded.

Please find here the information for the installation: Installation and instrument registration

Once the instruments are migrated you will have the data in both – the new and the classic Introspect (Note: the classic Introspect will be discontinued by end of 2024).

User Migration

With the rollout of the Next-Gen Introspect the user management has moved and will no longer be available in the classic Introspect. There is a separate page in Next-Gen Introspect which is the Organization Management. Here you can manage users and access to instruments.

Important: A Power User will now be an administrator in Organization Management, and the structure of the organization will be migrated from the classic Introspect. To make sure, that everything is still setup as you expect, make sure to review the structure in Organization Management. To be able to see data in Next-Gen Introspect dashboard, at minimum, one layer must be assigned with instruments and users.

Here is how it’s done: Organization Management

Instrument Migration

If the connected instruments are already running on IoT Client 2.6 or 2.7, the data migration will be automatically triggered in sequences after the rollout. You can find the status of the migration via the Dashboard/settings and whether the IoT Client need to be upgraded.

The Migration settings can be found at the settings page – at the bottom-left corner of the main page:

On the settings page go to the Data Migration, displayed on the right side.

Picture3

The Data Migration page shows the list of available instruments and their Migration Status.

The different Migration States are:

  • Can be Migrated
  • Update to latest IoT Client
  • Pending
  • Completed

The migration can be triggered for the instruments that are running on the newest IoT Client (2.6 or 2.7). If they have an older version installed, this needs to be updated first.

The migration of the instruments data can take few hours up to days, it depends on the amount of data that was parsed for an instrument, how many run data there was for an instrument. E.g. for an instrument with 5 years of usage data it took 40 hours to parse all data.

Organization Management

Navigate to the Organization Management page via the main menu (the nine dots) at the top from the page:

Purpose: This is the user and instrument management for Introspect. And here you can setup multiple sites with buildings as well as create a simple lab.

To be able to manage access to instrument data in Introspect, at minimum one structure layer must be assigned with instruments and users, in the example there is a laboratory and the instruments and users are added to that.

Several structure layers can be added to the organization by drag&drop. Instruments and users can then be added to the configured layers by drag&drop.

On the left side the menu shows the different structure layer that can be added.

  • Different structures you can use
    • Site
    • Building
    • Floor
    • Laboratory
    • Group
  • The list of all instruments registered to your organization
  • The list of all users in your organization

The different layers can be added to the organization by drag&drop. Instruments and users can then be added to the configured layers by drag&drop.

For the structure layers like sites and laboratory the name and location can be set in the details on the right. The location will be displayed on the Map page in Introspect.

To remove instruments and/or users from a laboratory or other structure layer, select them on the right side from the list and drag them to the recycle bin icon at the bottom.

After that they will appear again on the left side of the screen and are available to be moved into another structure layer again.
