Zurich, Switzerland, 11 March 2003  – Tecan, a leading player in the Life Science supply industry, today announced the introduction of the GENios Pro detection device. The GENios Pro is a new addition to the GENios family offering exceptional sensitivity and new measurement capabilities. These detection modes include flash luminescence, flash fluorescence and fluorescence polarization which are all available in one easy-to-use instrument. Using these advanced features, the GENios Pro is suitable for many applications in proteomics, genomics and drug discovery including gene expression studies, luciferase assays,  BRET (Bioluminescence Resonance Energy Transfer) assays and molecular interaction studies as well as cell-based assays. To further extend the capabilities of the GENios family, Tecan has applied its extensive experience in liquid handling to its family of detection devices. The result of this synergy is a state-of-the-art injector system that allows simultaneous reagent dispensing and reading. These unique features enable flash luminescence and flash fluorescence measurements to be easily performed. In addition, the detection device is fully compatible with the complete range of Tecan robotic platforms and Tecan’s new versatile Connect stacker which allows batch processing of up to 50 microplates. The GENios Pro, which is fully supported by Tecan’s XFluor and Magellan software, is the ideal choice for laboratories in academic research facilities, biotechnology enterprises and pharmaceutical companies.
