Tecan Innovation Day to focus on new technologies for Proteomics

Zurich, Switzerland, 19 June 2002 – Tecan, a leading player in the Life Science supply industry, today announced that it will hold its second Innovation Day on September 19th, 2002, at the company’s fully operational Proteomics laboratory in Munich, Germany. At the Innovation Day, Tecan will demonstrate new products that target key applications in  proteomic research. In addition, the company will present an update on its business developments, market position and strategy.

The convergence of new technologies, throughput capabilities and informatics is enabling a  revolution in the study of proteins. The breakthrough solutions being developed in proteomic research today parallel the profound advances that were made in the genomic revolution of the early 1990s. However, the complexity and dynamic nature of proteomes poses considerable new challenges to the development of technological solutions capable of overcoming key bottlenecks in proteomic research.

The Innovation Day will reveal how Tecan’s expertise in automation, robotics, fractionation, protein identification and protein characterization are being used to provide workstations and solutions that will systematically remove many of the major barriers facing the proteomics industry.
