Zurich, Switzerland, 27 February 2003 – Tecan, a leading player in the Life Sciences supply industry, today announced the introduction of Te-MO 3/3, a multi-channel pipetting option for the Tecan Genesis platform. Te-MO 3/3 significantly increases the productivity of the Tecan Genesis platform without increasing the system’s footprint. The simultaneous execution of plate loading and pipetting considerably increases the throughput of the Genesis Workstation, while the Genesis 8-channel pipetting arm is available for more complex pipetting patterns such as hit picking – a perfect combination of speed and flexibility. The Te-MO 3/3 is ideal for a wide range of applications like assay development, lead optimization and medium throughput genomics.
As a logical addition to the Te-MO 3/5, the Te-MO 3/3 comes in a smaller format that is specifically adapted to the Genesis worktable. The deck of the Te-MO 3/3 offers 9 carrier positions (Te-MO 3/5: 15) in 3 lanes for plates, troughs, wash stations or racks for disposable tips. Through its compact design, the Te-MO 3/3 does not increase the footprint of the whole workstation. This allows customers to use the productivity advantage of the Te-MO 3/3 in a wide range of settings including those where available lab space may be limited but where the highest possible safety requirements need to be met.
The Genesis platform may be upgraded by the addition of the Te-MO 3/3 to give a system featuring a pipetting head and robotic manipulator arm that can work independently and in parallel. Plates can simultaneously be loaded on the system while other plates are being pipetted (multi-tasking). The Te-MO 3/3 option pipettes 96-, 384- and 1536-well plate formats. Te-MO 3/3 works with most workstation modules, maximizing walk-away time and allowing integration of complete assays from pipetting to detection. Te-MO 3/3 is controlled by Tecan’s popular Gemini software, a user-friendly icon- based program. With these features Te-MO 3/3 offers a perfect combination of easy setup and medium to high throughput making it a versatile solution for many applications.
