TECAN releases its GENESIS Molecular Biology Workstation, ideal for automated DNA preparation

TECAN’s new GENESIS Molecular Biology Workstation has been developed for the automated extraction of pure DNA and RNA. Ideal for high-throughput applications, the GENESIS Workstation frees you from boring, repetitive and sometimes high-risk procedures, leaving you to get on with other things.

The Workstation can pipette volumes as low as 1m l, saving you money on expensive reagents and making the most of small samples. Using small volumes also offers reliable results for PCR, sequencing and other applications.

The liquid handling arm of the Workstation pipettes lysing solutions, magnetic beads and samples into tubes or plates. The DNA-bead complex is washed at the fully integrated magnetic separation station to remove proteins and other contaminants. Tubes or plates are moved away for resuspension and further washing, and an eluting agent is added to release the clean DNA from the beads.

The Workstation copes easily with full automation thanks to the powerful, easy-to-use Windows-based GEMINI programming system. It is the perfect choice for extraction of DNA from blood samples, or for the preparation of a large number of samples for PCR or DNA sequencing.
